Obituary for Ruth A Shaw

Ruth A. Shaw, 84, of Snow Shoe, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on March 16, 1935, in Moshannon, she was the daughter of the late Warton and Bernice McGonigal Fye. On June 27, 1975, at the Snow Shoe United Methodist Church, she married Harry D. Shaw, Sr. who survives at home.
Ruth attended the Snow Shoe High School. She worked for Hall Brothers in Snow Show as a clerk, retiring after 45 years of service. She was a life member of the Moshannon United Methodist Church, where she currently held the office of Financial Secretary.
Ruth enjoyed playing cards, putting together family photo albums and creating wall plaques of her family, and going for long car rides with her husband. She loved fishing and camping. She was highly devoted to church services and bible studies.
One of Ruth’s favorite quotes would be “sugar foot and candy”. When asked what that meant she would smile and “oh nothing sweetheart” She was a kind hearted and a gentle person. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Ruth is survived by her husband; one son, Harry D. Shaw, Jr and his wife, Charity, of Snow Shoe, two daughters; Wanda Hoover and her husband, Rod, of Snow Shoe and Belinda Smitchko and her husband, Bill, also of Snow Shoe, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She is also survived by two sisters; Bonnie Dyke of Bellefonte and Linda Bumbarger and her husband, Gary, of Drifting, one brother, Robert Fye and his wife, Linda, of Moshannon and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by three brothers; Clifford “Slug” McGonigal, Jerry McGonigal, and Jerry Fye, and two sisters: Lydia Summers and June Martin.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Snow Shoe. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Catherine Dittman officiating. Private burial will follow at Askey Cemetery in Snow Shoe.
