Obituary

Richard A. “Dick” Daniels, 73, of Mill Hall, passed away at his home after a brief
illness on Thursday, March 12, 2020. Born on December 3, 1946, he was the son of the
late Henry E. and Annalee R. (Eisaman) Daniels. On February 10, 1968 at the Salona
Lutheran Church, he married Susan C. Ricker, who survives at home.

Dick is a 1964 graduate of Bald Eagle Nittany High School and a 1968 graduate of
Lock Haven University where he earned his BS in Education. He taught mathematics at
the Lock Haven Jr/Sr High School, retiring in 1999 after 30 years of service.

Dick was a member of the Salona Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the
Belle Springs Golf Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hiking, kayaking, and bicycling.
His favorite pastime was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Dick was a friend to all and will be missed by many.

Dick is survived by his wife of 52 years, children: Mark R. Daniels and his wife,
Tracy, of Bel Air, MD, Julie D. Arnold and her husband, Matthew, of Darnestown, MD,
and Jeffrey J. Daniels and his wife, Jamie, of Steamboat Springs, CO; six grandchildren:
Justin Daniels, Grace Daniels, Tristan Daniels, Olivia Daniels, Jackson Arnold and
Gibson Arnold.

Also surviving are his six siblings: Barry Daniels and his wife, Bobbie, of Mill Hall,
Thomas Daniels and his wife, Diane, of Reading, Stephen Daniels and his wife, Tanya, of
Mill Hall, MaryAnn Vuocola and her husband, Stephen, of Mechanicsburg, Judy Fye and
her husband, Alan, of Beech Creek, and Patricia Caprio of Bellefonte, numerous nieces,
nephews, and a wide circle of friends.

Due to the disruptive impact of CoVid-19 and the strict Social Distancing measures
that are now expected for large gatherings, there will be no public visitation or public
funeral. All services will be private, limited to family. This is a very difficult decision for
the Daniels family who so appreciate all the love and support from their family, friends,
and community. We deeply regret these circumstances, but find it necessary to protect the
health of those at risk. Please visit the online guestbook to express condolences and share
memories. Dick will be laid to rest at the Hays-Fearon-Bossert Cemetery in Beech
Creek.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Autism Society of
America, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 605, Rockville, MD 20852 www.autism-
society.org.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore
St. Snow Shoe. An online guest book can be signed or condolences to the family
available at www.daughenbaughfuneralhome.com.

Dear, sweet Mr. Daniels--with his quiet, contemplative nature--such a kind soul who probably never knew that I felt like a second daughter to him. I have such fond memories of our weekend visits from college and his famous linguine and clam sauce. He had a way about him that just made you feel loved, comfortable and cared for. I will miss him. To Susan, Julie, Mark & Jeff, I am so deeply sorry for and saddened by your loss. My heart and condolences go out to you with love, peace and strength.

Sorry to hear about Dick's passing. My thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends. I knew Dick more from the days when my buddy and I would race down to the golf course after work to play as much golf as we could squeeze in before dark and would meet Dick also coming there from teaching and we would join up to play. I doubt my comments will surprise any of his family or friends, but I was impressed by his always being a true gentleman and good sport. Golf has a way of bringing out the best of a person's character, or sometimes the weaker parts. Not with him. Dick was his own man and was comfortable being himself. His demeanor did not change whether he was having a very good round or a not so good one. I count Dick among those I've known during my life as having made the whole experience better. I'll miss him.
