Obituary for Donna J Balash

Donna J. Balash, 85, of Pleasant Gap, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, May 9, 2021. Born on August 16, 1935, in Camp Hill, PA, she was the daughter of the late Hamilton and Helen Nuss. In 1989, she married Robert A. Balash “Yogi” who survives at home.

Donna is a 1953 graduate of Camp Hill High School, where she was the Drum Major her senior year. She owned her own travel agency, “Just for Fun Travel.” She started the agency in Lewistown and then moved it to Centre Hall. She retired after 40+ years in the business.

Donna and Yogi traveled the world. She visited every country except Australia. She made a lot of friends in the travel industry and loved every minute of it.

Donna enjoyed playing tennis, bowling, cards and especially going to yard sales where she found many treasures. She loved to take trips to New York City to attend Broadway Shows. She met Yogi at a dance, where he surprised her with his ability to dance her off her feet, while dancing the Polka and the Jitterbug.

The best thing that can be said about Donna is that she lived life to the fullest and made sure everyone around her was doing the same.

Donna is survived by her husband; one son, Randy P. Bucher and his wife, Sally, of State College; one daughter, Cynthia J. Sweeley of Spring Mills; and one stepdaughter, Ann Marie Lucas and her husband, Kim W. Dockey, of Montoursville.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Brady, Brenna, Amber, Nathan, Ariel, Josh, and Amy.
Along with her parents, Donna was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith L. Bucher on March 14, 1985; stepdaughter, Bobbie J. Balash on July 26, 2020; and one brother, Richard Nuss.

A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 1-2pm at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pleasant Gap. Funeral services will follow at the church with Pastor Kevin Shock officiating. Burial will be at the Centre County Memorial Park in State College.
