Obituary

Cynthia M. Butler, 79, of Bellefonte, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at her home. Born on March 7, 1941, in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Sara E. (Sherman) Hall. On April 4, 1959, in Snow Shoe, she married the love of her life, Ward H. Butler, who survives at home.

Cynthia is a 1959 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. She was the Office Manager at Centre Medical and Surgical Associates, retiring after 45 years of service. She was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church in Bellefonte.

Cynthia was an excellent cook and baker. She made the best chocolate cake with peanut butter icing. She made it for anyone that would ask. The only payment she requested was a donation be made to her church.
She enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and going out to eat. She treasured the times shared with her classmates on their monthly outings. She adored family. Cynthia was a beautiful person, both inside and out and would do anything for anyone that asked. It would be wrong if we didn’t mention the fact that Cynthia loved her pets and all of them greeted her at Heaven’s gate on Tuesday afternoon.

Cynthia is survived by her husband of 60 years, two children: Ward D. “Doug” Butler and his wife, Susan, of Blanchard and Sindy K. Butler and her life partner, Phyllis Corman, of Bellefonte; five grandchildren: Natasha Gray and her husband, Robert, Ward Matthew Butler and his wife, Caron, Clayton Butler, Abigail Butler and Wyatt Koch; three great grandchildren: Robert Gray, Matthew Gray, and Annabelle Gray, and one sister, Jacqueline Granite of Camp Hill.

Along with her mother, Cynthia was preceded in death by two brothers; infant Dennis Hall and L. David Hall, MD and two sisters: Sharon McGonigal and Patricia Hughes.

In the wake of the Covid19 Pandemic, all services will be postponed until a later date which will be announced.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Pets Come First, 2451 General Potter Hwy, Centre Hall, PA 16828.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St. Snow Shoe. An online guest book can be signed or condolences to the family available at www.daughenbaughfuneralhome.com.

My condolences to the family. Just want to share something. Cynthia and I were very good friends during a grade school times at the Snow Shoe school. Everyday we would walk home for lunch and everyday Cynthia would say to me come on home with me, my Mom will not mind. Most of the time I did go and there would be many others there for lunch. Also there were times when Cynthia would say why don't you stay at my house tonight and I would start out the night there, but would wake at some time and say I want to go home (about 4 blocks) away and they would take me home. Cynthia was a very loving and caring person. We, of course, drifted apart with living in different areas, but any time I would see Cynthia she was also so cheerful and happy to see me. I'm sure she will be missed terribly by her husband and her family. God bless all of you. Becky (Shaffer) Maurer.
