Betty J. (West) Baird, 94, of Centre Hall, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, March 25, 2020. Born on May 1, 1925, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late John and Rachel (Miller) West. In February of 1950, she married Ardell Hosterman, together they had four children. On November 29, 1970, in Centre Hall, she married Paul W. Baird, who preceded her in death on August 29, 1995.

Betty attended Curtain Junior High in Williamsport. She worked as a tube cutter for Gettig Pharmaceuticals in Spring Mills, retiring after 17 years of service.

Betty was of the protestant faith. She was the middle child of 11 children. When she was younger, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, Paul. At 89 years old, she still traveled with her daughter, Lenora, out west. She enjoyed stopping at various casinos on her travels. She would watch old western movies on tv. She loved watching WWE wrestling so much that she even saw it in person at the Bryce Jordan Center. She would stay up late at night to be able to watch it with her grandson.

Betty is survived by one son, Ardell W. Hosterman and his wife, Janet, of Philipsburg, three daughters; Adele M. Boone and her husband, Harold, of Milesburg, Gretchen A. Hosterman of State College, and Lenora J. Moyer and her husband, Craig, of Perryville, MD, 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by 10 siblings, making her the last of her generation, two grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

At Betty’s request, there will be no public services.
